Three Reasons to Add an Extra Day to Your Vacation

For many of us, vacationing is the high point of our year. Nothing beats hopping on a plane and chasing adventure in a beautiful locale. In fact, most people enjoy their vacation so much that they regret not staying longer. So why not do just that? Here are three reasons to add an extra day to your vacation.

1. You’ll have more time to relax.

When visiting a new and exciting place, we often feel each day should be devoted to exploration. We make it our mission to leave no stone unturned, even though that means being busy from the moment our plane’s wheels touchdown, all the way until we are headed back to the airport. But we forget that although traveling does provide the perfect opportunity to experience new lands, vacation is also supposed to include relaxation. After you plan all of your fun and exciting activities, add an extra day to your vacation dedicated solely to recuperating. You’ll be glad you took the opportunity to rest, smell the roses and truly absorb your beautiful surroundings.

2. You’ll be able to visit more places.

While it’s impossible to see every site in every city you visit, adding an extra day can help. Instead of cramming all your tourist goals into a few days and still being unable to get to them all, change your plans! By adding an extra day, you’ll be able to spread your itinerary out, while still having the ability to add a few additional events to your vacation.

3. In some cases, it can save you money.

Before locking in your vacation’s departure and return dates, dig further into the numbers. Occasionally, plane tickets vary greatly in price based on the day you leave or return. Similarly, hotel prices can differ depending on check-in/check-out dates and the length of your stay. Hotels also run specials that may offer discounts or free days if you meet certain criteria when you book. It’s definitely worth your time to research whether adding an extra day to your vacation can be financially beneficial.

Traveling is one of life’s greatest joys. Spreading your wings and experiencing different cultures and scenery changes you for the better. So, when planning your next vacation, consider these three reasons and add an extra day of fun.
